“If Real Madrid come in for you – especially Harry Kane – he has got to go” Woodgate urges star man to leave Spurs

Jonathan Woodgate has urged Harry Kane to make the move to Real Madrid from Tottenham if he wants to reach the next level of his career.

The 27-year-old is one of the world’s best strikers and he has continued to find the back of the net with regularity once again this season.

He has scored over 200 goals for the Lilywhites already and he is in the prime of his career.

However, he hasn’t won a major trophy and he does risk having a goal-laden career that has no significant silverware to show for it.

Woodgate. who also had a stint at Madrid, says that Kane has to look to be at the level of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, and he can only achieve that if he moves to a team like Madrid where he can win the Champions League and other trophies.

He also says that Spurs have many more years to reach the level of Manchester City and Liverpool.

Woodgate told Stadium Astro: “If Real Madrid come in for you – especially Harry Kane – he has got to go.

“If he wants to win trophies and get onto that next pedestal of Messi, Ronaldo and that type of player, he has to go.

“I don’t see him winning the league at Spurs, not this season and not in the next few seasons.

“They have got too much building to do to get up there with Liverpool and Man City.

“For me, if he wants to win the European Cup, then he has got a chance of winning it at Real Madrid.”

Woodgate is entitled to his opinion, however, he has obviously not accepted the state Real Madrid are in right now, that Spurs are in the title race this season and stand an excellent chance of picking up silverware in this campaign.
