‘I don’t regret it’ Looks like Antonio Conte may have his work cut out next season with one Spurs star

Tottenham Hotspur has been one of the more impressive clubs this summer with the way they have improved their squad, and there aren’t done, considering they still have to upgrade their right wing-back and possibly add another central defender.

However, the north London side is also in the process of offloading players who have no future under manager Antonio Conte. One player that Spurs surely want to see exit soon is Tanguy Ndombele.

Ndombele left in January on loan to Olympique Lyonnais, but the French club isn’t planning on keeping the 25-year-old. In an interview with Media Carre Ndombele opened up on the difficulties of the move and how things didn’t exactly go to plan at Lyon.

“It’s complicated, mitigated. Four months go by very, very quickly. I don’t regret it, even if we struggled,” Ndombele said.

“The most difficult thing to digest was getting eliminated by West Ham [in the Europa League], but that’s part of the life of a footballer, there’s a need to know how to get back up when things don’t go well.”

The France international now heads back to north London, where the club wants to offload him, but there’s likely not much of a market for him considering the performance he put forth the last few months in France, but he does say it’s possible to be happy at Spurs.

“Yes, I think it’s possible to be happy at Tottenham. Regardless of where you can go, you can be happy or unhappy. We’ll see how things go during pre-season. I’m not putting any more pressure on myself than that,” Ndombele said.

“I think that question… is rather complicated and personal at the same time, but what I want is to be happy, take pleasure in what I do, play, win, that’s all I want.”

It will be interesting to see whether Tottenham cut their losses, take a fee below the price they paid, or perhaps send Ndombele out on loan again in an attempt to bring up his value.
