Tottenham Hotspur have been named as admirers of the Leicester City midfielder James Maddison.
The 26-year-old England international has been linked with a move away from the King Power stadium and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham are prepared to submit an official proposal to the Foxes for their star midfielder.
Maddison has been an exceptional player for Leicester City since joining the club and he has been in fine form this season.
The England international has 8 goals and 4 assists to his name in the Premier League and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for Antonio Conte. Tottenham need to bring in a reliable playmaker who will help bypass the deep defences and create ample opportunities for players like Harry Kane.
Maddison certainly fits the bill and he has proven himself over the years.
Tottenham assistant coach Cristian Stellini has now fuelled further speculations surrounding a move for the 26-year-old during the pre-match presser ahead of Saturday’s clash against Leicester City. Stellini revealed that Tottenham like Maddison as a player and the 26-year-old is someone with immense talent.
He said via Mirror: “We like Maddison. He is an important player in this league, a player with an important type of skill, like his delivery, his crossing, his right foot is a very important foot so he shoots, he crosses, he takes the set-pieces.
“He is a player you have to take care of. When you play against him, you have to be careful. When you feel how important is this type of skill, for sure you like this type of player.
“He’s a player with talent. At the moment he’s playing for Leicester, a team we play against. We take care of him like an opponent.”
Maddison will be hoping to join a team capable of winning trophies next season and Tottenham could be the ideal next step in his career. The Londoners are still fighting for a place in the Champions League and they will be in a favourable position to attract players like Maddison if they manage to finish in the top four.
Antonio Conte will be hoping to win the league with Tottenham in the coming seasons and he needs game-changing players like Maddison at his disposal.
