“He doesn’t want to be there!” – talkSPORT pundit comes to the defense of Harry Kane

Harry Kane, like Tottenham Hotspur, is dealing with criticism from every corner following their recent loss in the North London derby, which extends their losing streak to three fixtures.

Pundits, journalists, and supporters have questioned whether Nuno Espírito Santo is the right guy for the job. Then there are others gearing their frustration towards Kane.

However, some defend Kane and call out chairman Daniel Levy for holding onto the 28-year-old, who didn’t want to remain with Tottenham. On talkSPORT, Adrian Durham defended the England international and puts the current situation at the feet of Levy.

“Tottenham Hotspur isn’t working,” Durham said. “At the start of the summer, Harry Kane said he wanted it done before the Euros.

“He wanted to sit down and have an honest conversation with the chairman, and Harry Kane is still there. He doesn’t want to be there!”

With a new manager in Nuno coming into the club, it seemed like it was a perfect time to turn the page on Kane and begin with a fresh slate. However, Levy stuck to his guns and held onto the striker, which for Durham, was a mistake for handing the Portuguese tactician a player that doesn’t want to be there.

“I heard the commentary team on TV yesterday saying, ‘has he got the desire?’ No, he hasn’t got the desire because he had no desire to be at Tottenham Hotspur,” Durham said.

“He literally does not want to be there; why on earth would you want to give a manager a player that doesn’t want to be there?”
