It has been a long time, 100 days since we last saw some Premier League action and this evening we see two games that will directly impact Tottenham.
The first game is Aston Villa v Sheffield United and the best result from that game would be a Villa win. The Blades are two points in front of us right now and the last thing we need is for them to go five points clear.
The second game sees Manchester City welcome Arsenal to the Etihad and with the Gunners just a single point behind us nothing but a convincing win for the Citizens will do.
Everything from this point onwards for quite a few teams, Tottenham included, is who will finish in a champions league spot and as things stand today that means a top-five finish.
Man Utd currently occupies fifth on 45 points, four points ahead of us, however, we can reduce that to just a single point with a home win over the Red Devils on Friday evening at the Tottenham stadium.
It may sound strange to say this but the next couple of days could have a huge impact on our champions league hopes. Put it this way, a win for Sheffield United, Arsenal and Man Utd would all but destroy our chances.
Whereas a win for Villa, City and us would change the dynamics significantly and with momentum behind us we would put ourselves in with a great chance of crashing into a champions league spot.
So, tonight, I will be cheering on Villa and especially City and if all goes right then Friday night will become so much more than a simple home game against Man Utd.
