Ferrari To Tottenham In January Makes Little Sense When One Assesses The Facts

In an ‘exclusive’ from 90Min, centre-back Gian Marco Ferrari is put up as a January panic buy for Tottenham. ‘Panic buy’ is my addition, but I’d be curious to listen to an explanation to this suggestion that doesn’t smack of urgency. Andrew Headspeath for 90Min makes the case that Alderweireld is out of action for a few weeks, and that one can strike a line through Davinson Sanchez’s name opposed to through it, dues to lack of game-time under Mourinho.

Toby Alderweireld will be back in a few weeks. Beyond that there is also the small matter of Joe Rodon and Japhet Tanganga to consider. Does José urgently need another centre-back? Neither Joe or Japhet have been able to get a clear run of games, and it is far from a guaranteed that another comparatively inexpensive player – and one from a foreign division – will be an immediate success.

For my money, Tottenham have enough in the backline to see them through to the summer and I would not be surprised to see Kim Min-jae’s name resurface next summer ahead of other names.
