“But there have been tactical masterclasses as well.” Mourinho’s style at Spurs praised

Jose Mourinho has helped Tottenham become one of the hardest teams to play against this season.

The Special One has won the Premier League three times and he could add another one to that list with his current Tottenham team.

The former Chelsea manager has, however, been slammed for his team’s style of play this season even though it brings results.

Spurs beat Arsenal 2-0 in the Premier League at the weekend to remain top of the Premier League on goal difference from Liverpool.

That win was achieved with less than 35 per cent possession and it was reminiscent of Mourinho’s Chelsea team when he first became a manager in English football.

Critics have said that Spurs aren’t playing the most attractive football, some have even said their style is negative, but it has been bringing results and Mail Sport’s Adam Shergold has hailed him for his team’s masterclasses this season.

He praised them for winning tough games against the likes of Burnley and Manchester City.

He writes: “Not only are Spurs winning games on a regular basis – including against Manchester City and Arsenal in the past few weeks – but quite often they’re winning them in some style as well.

“There was evidence of that old Mourinho win-at-all-costs mettle in the slender victories over Burnley, Brighton and West Brom but there have been tactical masterclasses as well.

“Tottenham’s defence looks as resolute as a Mourinho defence always did and a manager whose ideas looked so stale and outdated not so long ago has rediscovered his joie de vivre.

“The sweetest moment so far, certainly for Mourinho, was that 6-1 demolition of his former club Manchester United at Old Trafford. Demons exorcised, they have pushed on.”
