Tottenham linked with a move for highly-rated Atalanta star

Tottenham has been linked with a move for Atalanta’s Timothy Castagne, according to a report from CalcioMercato.

The Belgian moved to the Italian side in 2017 and he has continued to develop into one of the most versatile yet impressive fullbacks in Serie A.

The defender has made just over 80 appearances for Atalanta and he has a deal with them until 2022.

Jose Mourinho is expecting to oversee the incoming of at least one new defender when the transfer window reopens.

Spurs will most likely lose Jan Vertonghen on a free transfer and they are already looking to sell Juan Foyth who doesn’t seem to be part of Jose Mourinho’s plans for the future.

Castagne would be the ideal new signing for Spurs because of his versatility. The Belgian can play as either a full-back on both flanks and further up the pitch on both flanks as well.

He would cost any team that wants to take him in the summer close to £20 million, claims the same report.

The defender has been thriving in one of the most exciting attacking teams in Europe this season and he would likely not struggle to adjust to the demands of the Premier League if he joins Spurs.
