The mood inside Hotspur Way had been ‘up and down’ I am told, but since the loss to Dinamo Zagreb, the atmosphere has veered between comfortable and flipping awkward. The odds of José Mourinho being with us next season are entirely based upon financials and all those fans making our wish lists might need a small reality check. A source close to the club tells me that of all the names on Daniel Levy’s list is none other than Scott Parker. For many, I am sure this news will be met with a degree of warmth. To others, there will be considerable mention of ambition.
My belief is that after Mourinho, Levy doesn’t even need to say anything beyond the usual guff about mutual consent and the two entities not quite being fully aligned blah blah blah. The white noise of those that never bought into the appointment will be sufficient to draw a line under the matter. I’m advised that Parker would in effect be an interim with a contract – brought in with the idea of unifying the fans.
I take a view that this would be hilarious.
