Spurs urged to sign 33-year-old who can make a similar impact as Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Paul Robinson has urged Tottenham to make a move for Juventus midfielder, Sami Khedira, claiming that he might be on the wrong side of 30 but he can still make an impact.

The German midfielder has been frozen out of the first team in Turin as the Italians look to get him off their books.

He recently spoke to Sky Sports and he admitted that he would love to play in the Premier League and he even hailed Mourinho as the best manager that he has played under.

He will be a free agent at the end of this season and Robinson has urged his former team to make a move for him.

He used the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic as references to explain that Khedira might be older but he is experienced enough to help Tottenham and the Lilywhites should take a chance on him with a short term deal.

“Look at the likes of Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic, players can play on a lot longer than they used to,” he told Football Insider.

“Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic will be one of the fittest, if not the fittest in their squads.

“Professional footballers look after themselves and go on a lot longer. They are monitored on a daily basis.

“We no longer have players retiring at 30, 32 unless it is a really bad injury. Players are fitter and stronger and it is helping them elongate their careers.

“There is no reason why Khedira would not do that, he has a huge amount to offer, but you are not going to sign him on a three-year contract.”
