Spurs continue to speak with former Wigan boss as they search for Mourinho replacement

Spurs are set to continue talks with Roberto Martinez as they look to make him their next manager.

The Lilywhites are looking for a replacement for Jose Mourinho whom they fired last month.

They had expected the Portuguese to lead them to win titles, but he was sacked before the Carabao Cup final.

They are targeting another manager that should help them end their wait for a new trophy.

Martinez is currently managing the Belgian national team and will lead them into the Euros in a few weeks time.

Sky Sports says he is expected to return to club football after the competition and has been in talks with Daniel Levy.

Levy is under pressure to appease the Tottenham fans after another poor campaign.

The club was also involved in the suspended European Super League and had their fans raging over their involvement.

Levy will hope his next appointment delivers a trophy for the club.

Martinez has enjoyed a fine stint with Belgium and he has turned them into arguably the best national team in the world.

He won the FA Cup with Wigan, although they were also relegated from the Premier League that season.

It is very doubtful that his appointment would be welcomed by most Spurs fans.
