South American youngster wanted by Tottenham set to be sold this summer

Tottenham might sign Real Betis’ Emerson this summer as Barcelona looks prepared to sell the player that they co-own with Betis.

The 21-year-old Brazilian has been with Real Betis this season, and he has been in fine form for the Spanish side.

His performances for them has attracted the attention of top European teams, including Tottenham.

The Lilywhites lack alternatives to Serge Aurier at right-back and the Ivorian isn’t one of the most trustworthy players at the club.

Mundo Deportivo as cited by Sportwitness claims that Barcelona is aware of the interest that has been shown in him by Spurs and his other suitors, and they are thinking about buying out Betis from the deal.

The Catalans can buy him from their fellow Spanish side for €9m this summer, however, if they waited they would only be required to pay €6m in 2021.

The same report further states that Barcelona feels that he might be valuable to their transfer kitty this summer as his sale could fetch them some decent money, and he can also be used in exchange deals.

Emerson has made 30 La Liga appearances this season, scoring 3 goals and providing 5 assists.

Jose Mourinho would want his team to be in top shape before the start of next season as he looks to win at least one trophy for the club and signing a new right-back has surely to be one of his priorities.

Whether Emerson is the answer is up for debate.
