Sky Sports pundit compares Harry Kane to Argentina legend Diego Maradona

Tottenham Hotspur had a convincing 5-1 win this weekend over Newcastle United, allowing them to jump into the top four momentarily with Arsenal yet to play their fixture against Crystal Palace.

Despite not scoring a goal in the fixture against Newcastle, Harry Kane did factor in generating scoring chances for the north London club. The 28-year-old had one assist and had three key passes in 90 minutes.

After Spurs thumped The Magpies, pundit David Ginola compared the England international to Argentina legend Diego Maradona. The Sky Sports pundit raved over Kane’s playmaking, leading him to liken the Tottenham man to the Napoli legend.

“The new playmaker at Spurs is Harry Kane,” Ginola said on Sky Sports (via Metro). “I told you – Harry Kane, the playmaker, the number 10, he’s like Maradona now.”

“He’s playing in the middle of the park, long balls, short balls, scoring, assisting, wow. This is a new Harry Kane.”

Kane will need to continue this form to help Spurs reach the top four and put pressure on Arsenal and Manchester United. This weekend the Red Devils dropped points; meanwhile, now The Gunners need to pull out at least a draw to leap over their north London rival in the standings.
