Ricardo Carvalho on Mourinho’s methods at Spurs make for fascinating reading [opinion]

The Special One has failed to impress a number of Spurs fans, and it rapidly became my contention that these naysayers were not just intellectually unreachable, and perhaps not all that well informed about the game in the first place. That may sound harsh, but ‘just don’t like him’ isn’t how sentient beings communicate.

Ricardo Carvalho is another footballing luminary who has won more than any of the footballers you’ve ever watched in a Spurs shirt, so he clearly knows what he’s talking about. Here’s his CV for the uninitiated.

Porto

Chelsea

Real Madrid

Most crucial line for me in the quote? “Sometimes, the problem comes from the way in which the players don’t accept who he is – he is like that because he wants to achieve and wants to win trophies.”

The sooner any Spurs players late to this particular party, the better. We currently have a squad that has no idea how to win. Their last mentor publicly debased domestic trophies – whilst simultaneously failing to win anything.

Watching the leaked Amazon tape of Mourinho again, and one has to wonder how many of the nice boys will buckle down and play like men for the master?
