Report – Tottenham remain very interested in signing relegated star

TalkSport’s transfer guru Alex Crook has revealed that Tottenham is still very much interested in a move for Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson.

Wilson was relegated with the Cherries at the end of last season and he has become available for a transfer to a top-flight team.

The England international is one of the most accomplished members of the South Coast team and they will look to take advantage of that and cash in on him.

Jose Mourinho wants to sign a new striker before the start of the season so that he can reduce the goalscoring burden on Harry Kane.

Kane is a reliable striker, but he has suffered from some injuries in recent seasons and when he has been unavailable to play, the Lilywhites have struggled for goals.

Mourinho wants a new striker to avoid that and Wilson might be the target that joins the North London side.

Crook said: “I’m told Callum Wilson will be leaving Bournemouth as well and again he’s been linked with Tottenham.

“But I’ve heard Newcastle are very keen as well and there could even be a swap deal for Matt Ritchie heading in the opposite direction back to the Cherries.”

Wilson didn’t have the best of seasons the last time out, but he is a proven goalscorer who might rediscover his best form at Spurs.
