Report: A major hurdle is stopping Tottenham from pursuing Inter Milan defender

Tottenham Hotspur is keen on upgrading their backline this summer with plenty of candidates to fill this role ahead of their upcoming season, which will see them play in the UEFA Champions League.

Cristian Romero and Eric Dier have two of the three central defender positions, but the north London club will be looking for a third player to go alongside the duo. Reports suggest that Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni is the number one target.

Tuttomercatoweb reports that the Serie A club would like to keep Batoni, but they would put themselves at the negotiating table in the face of a huge offer. However, the Italian media outlet adds that Spurs have an issue with the asking price.

Inter Milan reportedly wants a fee between €60-million and €70-million for the 23-year-old defender. Furthermore, Tottenham isn’t the only Premier League club keen on the defender as Manchester United is also in on the Italy international.
