Report – Mourinho wants to take Manchester United fringe player to Tottenham

Tottenham is one of three teams looking to sign Jesse Lingard on loan from Manchester United this month.

The Englishman has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford in this campaign, and a move away might revitalise him.

He enjoyed the most prolific year of his career under the management of Jose Mourinho.

They won the Europa League and League Cup with the Red Devils before Mourinho was fired in 2018.

Lingard has struggled to play as the likes of Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes continue to deliver good performances for the Red Devils.

The club has extended his stay with them until the end of next season, and they are reluctant to allow him to leave this month.

Mail Sport says Spurs want him and they face competition from West Ham and Sheffield United for his signature.

At West Ham, he would be reunited with David Moyes, another manager that he had at United previously.

Sheffield United are in a relegation dogfight and he would be tasked with helping them stay up.

Spurs have had a fine season, even the likes of Dele Alli and Gedson Fernandes have been unable to get first-team chances. Lingard might struggle with a similar fate if he makes the move to North London.
