Premier League club have ‘shown an interest’ in Spurs star who is determined to leave the club

Leeds United have shown an interest in Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks according to Charlie Eccleshare of The Athletic.

Leeds have been busy in the transfer window having spent almost around £100million in signings already with six new players coming in including Tyler Adams, Marc Roca, and Brenden Aaronson. Four of these signings have been all midfielders but with Kevin Phillips going off to Manchester City, Adam Forshaw picking up an injury, and rumours linking Mateusz Klich with an exit, it’s not a surprise Leeds are back in the market for another midfielder.

Harry Winks has been linked with a move away from Spurs this summer for most of the summer. He is reportedly one of the 9 players that Spurs are open to selling this summer and was one of the players that were left out of Tottenham’s pre-season squad earlier in July.

According to The Athletic’s correspondent Charlie Eccleshare, ‘Leeds have held an interest in signing Winks this summer’. However, he also admitted that the move is unlikely to materialize as things stand.

When asked if he can see Wink signing for another Premier League club, he told GIVEMESPORT:

“Yeah, I can. Everton were interested then cooled that interest. Leeds is a name I’ve heard mentioned, but as I’ve reported, I don’t think that’s going to go any further. So it’s interesting as to who really pushes for him.”

Marsch has already signed two holding midfielders in Marc Roca and Tyler Adams, and if they sign Winks, who is also a defensive midfielder, he could fit the American’s 4-2-2-2 system much better.

With 114 appearances as a holding midfielder, Winks may be an ideal third option alongside Roca and Adams. He also has Premier League experience and can play in a two-man midfield in a positive box-to-box role.
