Mourinho targeting out of favour Real Madrid man

AS says that Jose Mourinho is looking to sign Eder Militao this month as he continues to be outside the first-team picture at Real Madrid.

Spurs have at least four senior centre backs at the moment, but they have plans to win trophies soon so they have to get as many quality players as they can.

Militao joined Madrid as one of the world’s highest-rated young defenders from FC Porto, and the Spanish side expected him to become their defensive leader after the likes of Sergio Ramos have left the club.

He enjoyed a run of games at the start of this season, but since he was infected with coronavirus in November, he hasn’t really played for the club since.

It seems that Zinedine Zidane has found the other defenders better than him and Real Madrid will be open to allowing him to leave the club.

However, the report says that Tottenham will have to pay a fee that is close to the 50m euros that Real paid to sign him.

It recalls that Mourinho had considered a move for him in the January transfer window when Tottenham was keen to sign a new centre back.

One thing that is making him a target for the Special One is the fact that he is versatile as he can also fill in at right-back.
