Over the summer, Tottenham Hotspur was able to offload defender Cameron Carter-Vickers who went on loan to Celtic FC. However, there were conflicting reports about the option to buy price for the 23-year-old.
Some reports initially stated that the option to buy for a fee of around £6-million. Then there was a report on add-ons raising the price to £10 million. Nonetheless, it doesn’t seem that either is a sum that Tottenham could receive for Carter-Vickers.
According to a journalist John Wenham, who spoke with Football Insider, stated that Tottenham would be lucky to receive at most £3-million for the defender.
“The club is realistic in their valuations. He has 18 months remaining on his deal after January. There is no way Tottenham are asking for £10 million; that’s ridiculous,” Wenham said.
“I reckon it will be between £2.5 million or £3 million. That £10 million figure is totally wide of the mark.”
Carter-Vickers appears to be settling well with the Scottish giants, and with 18 months left on his contract with Spurs, the north London-based club will be happy to accept that fee for a player with no future with them.
In November, the defender stated that he would like to remain long-term in Glasgow.
“It’s something that I’m open to, but I haven’t given it much thought at this stage, to be fair. I still have plenty of games left in this season, and that is my focus,” Carter-Vickers said. “I have really enjoyed it. The staff and the players have been really good with me, and that’s helped me.”
