ITK: Useful insight into Levy/Poch relationship

A cursory glance at the Premier League table gives one an immediate flavour of the confusion and general discord at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club in 2019. An estimated billion pound infrastructure investment has been greeted by lacklustre football that’s left Mauricio Pochettino’s side 14th in the league.

A source close to the club tells the Harry Hotspur Blog that Daniel Levy’s longest serving manager enjoys a solid personal friendship with Levy; one that includes socializing with the Argentine, who is now in his 5th year at Spurs. The two do not solely operated within an ’employer/employee’ relationship. This is a break from the usual situation at THFC.

Whist this 2018/19 season has to date been largely forgettable, and potentially dangerous, this blog understands that Mauricio has stored up “plenty of credits in the bank with Levy”. This manager has over delivered and Levy is aware of this and that his manager also has a genuine love of Spurs.

The one area that has caused strain upon the relationship is the sale of players that Mauricio no longer wanted in his squad. The inability to move on Danny Rose in the summer was not welcomed by the gaffer. Additionally, “90%” of general staff at club were convinced that Christian Eriksen was leaving in the summer and this too frustrated.

This blog also understands this summer’s 3 major transfers in were all Pochettino first choices.

Opinion: It looks as if Poch might survive anything bar a significant relegation threat.
