‘It was Tottenham’- Agent claims Spurs asked about 15-cap Int’l this summer

Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni was linked with a move away this summer and football agent Massimo Brambati has revealed that Tottenham asked about the 23-year-old defender earlier on in the summer.

It is no secret that Spurs wanted to improve the defensive options earlier on in the window and Bastoni was reportedly a target for the Premier League club.

Apparently, Spurs were willing to spend big money on the 23-year-old but the player decided to snub the advances of the London club and continue with Inter Milan.

Brambati, who does not manage Bastoni, said to TMW, “Bastoni, someone asked and Inter sat down to evaluate. It was Tottenham who tested the ground. The player, however, put his foot down because he didn’t want to leave.”

Tottenham’s interest in the player is hardly a surprise. The player worked with Antonio Conte during their time together at the Italian club and the Spurs manager rates him highly.

The 23-year-old could have been a quality acquisition for the Londoners who have now decided to sign Clement Lenglet as a temporary option.

It will be interesting to see if the on-loan Barcelona defender can make an immediate impact in the Premier League next season.

As for Bastoni, Spurs could always return for him at the end of next season when Lenglet’s loan deal is over.
