“He went missing” Robinson slams Tottenham man for woeful Newcastle performance

Carlos Vinicius hopes to earn a permanent Tottenham transfer at the end of this season, but he didn’t do himself any favours with his performance against Newcastle United.

The on-loan Benfica striker has been at Tottenham all season and has struggled to get Premier League starts.

He had chances in the early stages of the Carabao Cup and the Europa League with Harry Kane remaining the only striker in Premier League games.

With his current loan spell approaching its end, Spurs have to decide if they want to keep him or not.

Jose Mourinho has given him chances and he started the game against the Magpies.

Spurs drew that match 2-2 after two Kane goals had helped them come from a goal down to lead 2-1.

Kane played his part in helping the team, but Vinicius was anonymous and Paul Robinson has slammed the Brazilian for his lack of contribution.

He told Football Insider: “I didn’t think Son would be fit enough to start, so I expected Vinicius to play.

“He was very impressive last month, he did very well against Aston Villa but let’s be honest he went missing against Newcastle.

“It was no surprise to see him get brought off. He didn’t really get into the game at all.

“He was ineffective against Newcastle and Kane was the only one that carried a real threat going forward early on, it was disappointing.”
