Alasdair Gold Offers Explanation For Ben Davies Absence Vs. Burnley

Tottenham defender Ben Davies has reportedly picked up a hamstring injury which keeps him out of this evening’s trip to Burnley.

The Welshman has not been named in the 18 at Turf Moor, and Alasdair Gold of Football London understands that could be because of another injury setback, weeks on from his return from a three-month layoff.

Davies has only played four times since recovering from ankle ligament damage so – if this is true – it will be a major blow to the 26-year-old. Hamstring injuries are rarely quick fixes; just ask Harry Kane.

It would also be another man down for Jose Mourinho, and one that the manager was delighted to have available again, however briefly that may turn out to be, because of his suitability as the inverted left-back.

Jan Vertonghen starts at left wing-back against Burnley, but it may be Japhet Tanganga who covers for Davies if this is another lengthy spell on the sidelines, as he was playing well there before Davies’ recent return.
