“A waltzer spinner couldn’t turn him around” “He looked okay when he was on loan” Fans are seriously split over one player

The news that Giovani Lo Celso has returned from international duty, yet again, incapable of playing for Spurs straight away has provoked mixed emotions from some fans online.

One can begin to get a handle on the discontent over Lo Celso when looking at the bigger picture. The Argentinian is somehow in his fourth season with us and has yet made so few Premier Leagues appearances.

There have been some – but too few high points. A year ago, Lo Celso was undoubtedly the man of the match, playing an important role in both of the goals against Norwich City. The Argentine showed his industry to help set up Dele Alli, and his creativity for the second with this lovely through-ball for the same man.

The 25-year-old has certainly begun to test my patience and whilst international service is generally indulged by football fans, but in this instance, it feels like the Rosario-born boy isn’t quite taking his commitment to THFC all that seriously.
