Spurs Player Ratings vs West Ham: Did You Spot Our MOTM?

The first Tottenham victory on the road since January, and the drought is broken at West Ham. That’ll do nicely.

GAZZA – both goals were fiascos that ought to have been addressed before Paulo was forced to try to make a save. Beyond the goals, this was a decent performance. Solid distribution.

AURIER – a much improved showing that didn’t trigger any latent heart conditions. 83.7% pass completion rate, 2 chances created and an assist. 5 successful take ons, and 5 successful passes in the attacking third. 4/4 clearances and a headed clearance.

DAVIES – rock solid showing from the Welshman. 90.5% pass completion rate, 6 out 7 successful passes in the attacking third. 1 chance created, and Ben recovered the ball 5 times.

SANCHEZ – Best passing accuracy for a long time 93.3%. 5 out of 6 successful headers, 4 clearances and 2 fouls committed. Looked more comfortable, than of late.

TOBY – A mixed bag, to be blunt. 2 attempts on goal, but in the attacking third, Alderwiereld only made one successful pass out of 7 attempted. Recovered the ball on 3 occasions.

WINKS – Far more productive, which was an improvement desperate/y required. 12 successful passes in the attacking third. Needs to improve on crossing the ball. Made 5 attempts, only 2 found a man in a Spurs shirt.

MOURA – 3 attempts on goal, despite not seeing so much of the ball. 7 successful passes in the attacking third out of 12 attempted. Drew 3 fouls.

DIER – In the thick of it. This is a player Jose likes, and we ought to expect a period of ‘finding his feet’. 7 good passes in the attacking third and plenty of dominance in the air, both attacking and defensively.

DELE – Drastically improved showing, but can it be sustained? An assist, 2 chances created, as well as 7 good passing in the attacking third. Alli also recovered the ball 5 times.

“Are you Dele or Dele’s brother?” Jose Mourinho was sending a message to all his players. No more hiding.

He didn’t hide, so MOTM.

More, please.

SONNY – archetypal danger man performance with 3 attempts on goal and just 3 failed passes all game. 3 chances (2 big chances) created and also got his assist. Recovered the ball 10 times.

Technically, Son is the MOTM, but even I’m not immune to Dele Alli stepping it up.

KANE – The stats don’t tell the whole story with Harry on this one. We got a more matured, more cynical game from the captain. 10 good passes in the attacking third, plus his goal, of course.
