“I Nearly Quit”

Danny Rose has opened his heart to The Daily Star.

When Ben (Davies) arrived I was fully ready to look elsewhere. I didn’t have a good season last season and I spoke to the manager two weeks before pre-season and he said ;’ No ‘. He said that I wasn’t going anywhere.

He wanted me to stay and fight and I did that. The club offered me a new contract which I may not have deserved considering the season I had just had.

I didn’t have a season like I had at Sunderland. I have to say a massive thanks to the chairman and the manager for giving me that contract. I like to think that I have repaid them with how consistent I have been this season. And I have managed to notch a few goals as well.”

The joy of Danny Rose, is that his transformation into a decent and dare I say reliable player has proved that coaching can count. Especially when married with a player’s innate desire to take guidance and be receptive to that guidance.

The purchase of Davies was arguably some of the best money that Levy & Co. have ever spent.
