A four game Premier League card is today’s first installant of Game Week 1, starring the reigning champions Liverpool and two newly promoted sides in Marcello Bielsa’s Leeds and Scotty Parker’s Fulham.
Fulham are at home to Arsenal, a side that beat Chelsea to win the FA Cup last season. Fulham are long shot outsiders @5/1 and it’s difficult to oppose Arsenal being too much for Parker, so the @6/10 away win appeals.
Crystal Palace host Southampton which is unlikely to be one for the purists, and I’ll take the draw @11/5, thanks very much.
Liverpool vs Leeds is surely the must-see game of the lot, and with Liverpool having such a pedigree, there’s great value if you fancy Leeds to get something, which I do. The draw is @4/1 and the away win is @9/1, so I’ll opt for the draw. After spending several weeks celebrating at the end of last season, I take a view Klopp has his work cut out.
West Ham play Newcastle, which is one of those games where one wishes it possible for both to lose. The Hammers are favourites, but I can’t resist the draw @5/2.
Your average bookie will take the above accumulator and turn your fiver into £448.
Be lucky.
