‘Would fit in brilliantly at Spurs…’ Alan Brazil favours a big name

By The Boy -

Tottenham have quite enough worries, beyond who they might buy in the summer transfer window, but football doesn’t sleep, even for existential crises. One of the many issues facing whoever might be in the club’s hot seat at the end of this torturous season has to be a creative playmaker.

Antonio Conte has come under fire plenty of fire from fans, and for my money, most of the criticism is off beam; but how a Tottenham coach doesn’t have a ‘Christian Eriksen type’ in the middle of the park is beyond me, The club has a rich history in this department, with players like Michael Carrick and Luca Modric being hugely successful.

Recuperating talkSPORT pundit and former Spur, Alan Brazil believes a missing part of the puzzle could be Leicester City star, James Maddison, speaking to TheBoyHotspur’s Substack.

I’d love to see Madison go there, but that’s all Leicester need right now, for him to leave. But he would fit in brilliantly at Spurs.

Just how keen Maddison would be on joining a side with so many problems right now is anyone’s guess. Perhaps any potential deal would hinge upon how much the player wanted to get out of the Foxes. Daniel Levy’s number one priority, once again, is to convince another coach to start a project. At this rate, evening linking names with a move to the Lilywhites is frankly spurious.

The problem Levy is facing is that the optics are dreadful as far as team coaching is concerned. With Conte looking like toast and his predecessor Mourinho having been sacked 6 days before a cup final, what is it that this club is actually looking for? Some might suggest, he’s looking for a complete yes-man.
