Winks Poor, But Eriksen Was Pitiful

By The Boy -

City away was a remarkable game, one where Spurs had the luck of the gods on their side, or perhaps given the VAR decision, the love of the gods.

Poch struggled to pick his opening formation. Again.

56 minutes of watching us getting overrun saw the demise of Harry Winks again.

What to say about Harry? On paper the boy didn’t put a foot wrong. A 91.5% passing accuracy.

But on grass, that translated to something as enterprising as Ray Wilkins.

To continue the 80s footballer analogy, Christian Eriksen then, was as helpful as a lift home from Peter Shilton.

Sloppy as hell with a passing accuracy rate of 76.3% – this simply isn’t good enough and anyone struggling to figure out why no ‘top’ side has been in for him doesn’t understand football.

The Dane is supposed to be our attacking fulcrum, and yet he fluffed all 3 passes he attempted in the attacking third of the pitch.

I don’t mindlessly believe in Harry Winks, however, even when he underperforms, there are enough positive characteristics to think that he can be a great player.

With Eriksen, I now see damaged goods. That’s a situation that cannot be rectified with fine-tuning the tactics.

Utd are the real deal this year. I reckon they will be in the title show down. The balance they got to that side looks terrific.

Just watch Harry Redknapo on between the lines and he talked about the last season he had with us, said if he had got proper support in that January window we would have been very close to the title. Instead Levy again hamstrings us and H was forced to get Saha and Nelson of course, “just cos bodies were needed”. Another clear case of Levy blocking success. Also interesting is if H had stayed, Bale was on fire the next season and if that team and staff had been kept together again with quality additions who knows what could have happened? These parasites aint interested in football.

Spurs have been largely awful since Walker left and that system fell apart. Scrapping through against the chaff and getting perks of the corporate bowl gig. Sideways backwards ponderous like most of the play nowadays.

The midfield is still a problem area. Ndombele could be a player but I take it he went missing in the first real test. Tin Tin has passes the point of no return, Winks is too young to rely on completely, Sissoko is…….Sissoko and the others are either crocked, or on the way out. Then there’s centre forwards……and full backs…..hmmmm. January? Oh this.
