Will they be able to do what Conte wants” These two Spurs stars will struggle reckons pundit

Kevin Campbell has cast doubts over the futures of Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele at Tottenham and he suggests both players won’t fit into Antonio Conte’s system.

The Italian is famous for using wing-backs as one way to attack and that reduces his reliance on attacking midfielders and he rarely plays with a number 10.

Both Alli and Ndombele have been used in that role at Spurs and they could now struggle to fit into Conte’s system.

Ex-Arsenal man, Campbell tells Football Insider: “Alli is a number 10.

“That is not a position in this Conte team. I’m not sure how it is going to go for him.

“There has been crazy thoughts about Ndombele and Alli. At some stage both players were supposedly heading out of the club. The next minute they are in the team again.

“Will they be able to do what Conte wants? And how he wants it? I’m not sure. Conte is very intense and particular in the way he wants things done. We are going to find out but the initial signs don’t look great for them.

“Everyone thinks this transition is going to be seamless but it won’t be. This is a tough ask.

“A new manager has come for the second time in six months. These players are constantly being asked to do different things. They will be learning different stuff again. The transition will take time.”

The Boy Hotspur Say

Alli has struggled under the last two Spurs managers and the midfielder is most likely in his last chance saloon.

He will not like to hear that Conte might not have space for him in his team, however, it is his own fault that his form has been on a steady decline.

With a contract expiring in 2024, Spurs might be tempted to consider selling him if he is not back to form by the end of this season.

Ndombele has similarly underperformed and most of the time plays as if he doesn’t want to be at the club.

He would benefit from being under an intense manager like Conte, but if he cannot take his chance and Conte makes progress with the other players, he could be sold off as well.
