What is the worst that can happen if Tottenham sells Harry Kane?

By Bruce Grove -

This summer the future of Harry Kane is up for debate with top teams ready to pounce and take him away from Spurs.

He has been linked with the likes of Real Madrid (AS) and Manchester United (Express) in the past, and the links still won’t go away.

He has also hinted that he would leave if we as a club cannot match his footballing ambitions.

Mark Lawrenson has also recently hinted that Spurs would sell him for the right price because Daniel Levy is a businessman that has sold a number of the club’s top stars in the past.

I know that our fans would hate to hear that or see that ever happen, after all, he is the crown jewel of our team.

But we have to understand that players come and go because it is their profession.

Kane has the talent to win all the coveted trophies in the world, and if he cannot win them with us, I would understand if he left us.

As a club, we should be prepared for situations like that and that is why I know that everything would not fall apart if we lose him.

If we can sign a reliable backup for the England captain, we will put ourselves in a position to be able to move on just fine if we do sell him.

Fear not, we survived losing Dimitar Berbatov, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale and made the Champions League final.

It would be hard to handle losing Kane but Tottenham will adapt, move on and continue to evolve.

For me it’s more a case of why should such a great player stay at Spurs. He has won nothing and Jose’s talk of going for the title next season makes me smile.

It’s Levy’s decision to buy and sell players not the manager.

Losing Kane, especially now would be several steps backwards…. The top teams, the winning teams don’t sell their best players in their prime… They keep them, and build around them, and buy more to finish the jigsaw… Selling all our best players and buying rubbish ones is why we haven’t won anything of note since last millennium.

The worst thing that could happen is that the money wasn’t reinvested in the side and if it was, we signed a load of bargain bucket dross with it. Like we did with the Bale money… It didn’t go very far because the level of player we bought weren’t good enough to improve the team.

It’s the manager who sells him I’d feel sorry for. I can’t see any manager who’d get the fans 100% backing to sell him. Unless he got in someone who was an extremely exciting player & scored thrilling goals, the fans would go mad.
