“What a fall from grace” “He needs help” Many fans were saddened by this recent, bizarre video

Dele Alli’s decline has been a very public one. Even at his peak, the Milton Keynes boy was only knocking on the door. Make no mistake, Dele was never at the very top of his game. Indeed, one might argue that many managers would have given Alli fewer first-team starts than Mauricio Pochettino did.

Under José Mourinho, it appeared that a ‘buck your ideas up’ moment was on the horizon. That didn’t happen. Even Nuno lost interest during his cameo reign at Tottenham

Ginola didn’t track back but he was generally so consistently productive going forward that it hardly mattered.

It’s down to managers tactics. During redknapp regime we still play attacking football with modric and vdv pulling the Strings in the middle with Lennon and bale at the flanks.
This culture continue when AVB took over and we play more expressive when poch was in charge.
The special one came and adopt a counter attacking tactics which allows opposition to have the ball, hunt it down and go forward as fast as possible on the break,we struggle with this tactics when we play teams that are good in attacking football playing a midfield trio of sissoko, hojbjerb and ndombele all defensive oriented player. All this flaws was overlooked due to Kane and son brilliant moment last season.

I hardly believe how Alli will thrive playing under a defensive tactics it’s like asking chelsea’s mount to play a midfield of Mikel and essien. Our poor form is down to managers trying to force players to play tactics that are not suitable to them.

The only time I enjoy spurs playing is during Poch and something’s redknapp regime. The other ones are too dangerous to my health.

I can watch the 2:1win over Arsenal under poch over and over again.

We’ve had flair players in the past. Hoddle, Ginola …. both have given their best for the shirt. Ginola could be frustrating not tracking back but he rarely let us down like Dele has.

Dele was on a downward spiral under Poch. It’s continued under the last 3 managers. Nothing to do with tactics. Just a poor attitude from the player.

Dele and Pogba to me are ‘novelty’ players, very skilful flair players with a strong marketing element towards a particular, younger demographic. Their attitude towards the game is a certain way but they are catered for because of their skill levels, but their application and professionalism stinks…

He clearly doesn’t care about being a professional footballer so why should we.

Conte will have already made “his evaluation” on this one.

What do you expect from him? I really love Dele Alli and Erickson playing and I wonder some people didn’t understand his playing style.

Some certain players performs well with tactics suitable to them and fades out when playing under another manager who deploys a different tactics.
Dele, eriksen, dier, lamela, dembele etc really performed well because poch tactics suits their football style.

The greatest mistake Tottenham made is to replace Poch with the special one when we have other managers that plays attacking football which the players would benefit from.

I could recall Mata and Oscar form for Chelsea before mourinho took over and since then Chelsea are now enjoying their football when tuchel took over which says a lot about managers tactics.

There shouldn’t be any reason engaging mourinho if levy had back poch with the required funds.

All these are caused by the levy engaging managers with different tactics.

Any context? Is this an in joke for an in crowd? It looks somewhat satirical in tone amongst other things. I won’t mention what other things.

A player with a perculiar past. Not any wonder it went south for him, soul for fame and fortune rarely works out.
I see Covid Origi reappeared suddenly to score a last second winner….I mean Divock…

That was weird. I had to watch it twice to be sure I saw what I saw. Dele’s next move should be to MLS. Clearly he likes Biden and the idiotic bing bong. He could do this wacky stuff here in the US and no one would care, and he’d be a star in MLS. Maybe he can take Winks and Dier with him?

Deles decline is indeed very sad both for the club and for him too. To say he was never at the top of his game is a little ingenious. He was the fastest midfield player to score 50 league goals beating great players like Gerard,Lampard and Scholes in the process, which is no mean feat. I was at Wembley when he scored twice against the European champions. You can’t airbrush that out.
For a couple of season Poch got something out of the boy but then he self destructed too much too soon perhaps but that’s the problem with many young players. These days he looks like a guy in need of change in scenery. Too use his decline as a sly dig at Pochettino is a cheap jibe as the special one got nothing out of him.

I’m struggling with this to be honest. I met him when he was with MK Dons in the hotel before playing Crewe away, shortly after signing for Spurs. He kind of became our favourite player of this generation. I think he had the opportunity to be a Spurs and England star but he’s doing this. He is another David Bentley and one of countless other wasted talents, I wish I’d have had half the ability of.

They said it was Mourinho’s fault… just like they did when he was at Man U with Pogba. He leaves a trail of destruction they said.

Let’s be clear… Dele is the architect of his own downfall. The finger of blame lies solely over his own head. Do I have sympathy? No ! His future lies somewhere else. Hopefully very soon.

When Dele was at his peak I recall having a row with a Gooner (of all people) who claimed he was the ‘read deal’ but even during the good times I always felt he wouldn’t last the course. We all loved the little tricks and flick, the ‘megs’ and the general shithousery, but there was little substance underneath IMO and it eventually wore off. Perhaps the clamours for him to curb the nasty side of his game has not helped, but never been the same player since he went off injured away to Fulham in 2019. There is still time for him to prove me wrong, but I don’t think THFC are in a position to indulge him much longer.

It might be funny if he was doing it on the pitch.
context matters.
it’s funny even in the pressers, Dele isn’t being asked about like he was consistently when Mourinho was in charge.
maybe he should look at Jack Wheelchairs career and take heed whilst he can

True. shame but personally I’ve had enough ..he isn’t good enough as a footballer and real road man would empty him of everything ..sad to see.

A pathetic and embarrassing exhibition. If Conte is made aware of this nonsense Alli should not be anywhere near the squad again.

Very sad. What does he think it looks like. More money than most for doing nothing much but act the clown. He is just a distraction now. I used to enjoy watching him on the pitch with Erikson, but…………
