Atalanta midfielder from Ruslan Malinovskyi is willing to move away from the Italian club in the January transfer window and West Ham, Tottenham are fighting to secure his services.
According to a report from Calciomercato, the Italian outfit wanted to keep the player, but eventually, they have decided to let the defensive midfielder join a new club. Apparently, Malinovskyi has a strained relationship with Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini.
Both West Ham and Tottenham will be keen on securing his services and it will be interesting to see where he ends up. While the Hammers have an ambitious project at their disposal, Tottenham are certainly a better team capable of challenging for bigger trophies. Furthermore, Tottenham will be able to offer the player Champions League football and the opportunity to work with a world-class manager like Antonio Conte.
The 29-year-old is in his peak years right now and whoever ends up signing him will be hoping for an instant impact from the player. He picked up 10 goals and 7 assists last season and he would add a new dimension to the West Ham/Tottenham midfield.
The Hammers have been heavily dependent on Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek as their midfielders and signing the 29-year-old would give them some much-needed options and depth. On the other hand, the Atalanta midfielder is likely to compete with the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur at Tottenham.
Recently, Fabrizio Romano claimed that the player dreams of joining Spurs.
Malinovskyi certainly has the quality to thrive in the Premier League, and he will be hoping to make his mark in English football if the transfer goes through in January.
