“We’ll see the best out of him next season” Ian Wright Feels Spurs Have Signed A Gem [video]

I wouldn’t usually pay much attention to Ian Wright’s opinions on Tottenham, but the ex-Arsenal striker has piqued my interest with his comparison of Giovani Lo Celso to a certain Manchester City midfielder.

Speaking on The Kelly & Wrighty Show, the 56-year-old said that Lo Celso ‘has a Bernardo Silva vibe’, after being impressed with his creativity and technique since the Argentine began playing more regularly for Spurs.

It is often lazy journalism when comparing one player to another, but it seems that Wright has actually given this some thought. Bernardo took a little bit of time to establish himself at City before starring in their Premier League title triumph of last season, and does have a similar blend of combativeness and determination to go with his obvious quality on the ball.

The Portuguese can also be utilised across several midfield positions to suit the balance of the team, which is how Lo Celso may be used for the timebing as Jose Mourinho tries to figure out a way of getting both the 23-year-old and fellow new boy Tanguy Ndombele in the same lineup.

If Lo Celso’s career in England blossoms at the same rate as Bernardo’s has, then we will have an outstanding player on our hands next season.
