“We need to see the best of him” Pundit says Tottenham man must be more consistent

Tanguy Ndombele impressed Paul Robinson with the form he showed against Newcastle United at the weekend.

But the pundit insists that for the money Spurs paid to sign him, he should deliver fine performances like that regularly.

Whoscored reported that the Frenchman completed 92.4 per cent of his attempted passes and also touched the ball 98 times in the game.

He scored an exquisitely executed goal and was involved in most of the good things that Tottenham did in the match.

One thing that can be associated with Ndombele is a perceived lack of effort from him.

He can be arguably the best player on the pitch in a match, only to become the poorest in his very next game.

Former Tottenham number one, Robinson says the midfielder was in superb form against the Magpies.

However, he is the club’s most expensive signing, so performances like that should be the norm every time he steps on the pitch to represent the Lilywhites.

He told Football Insider: “I thought he was absolutely superb.

“But he is the club’s record signing at the end of the day. We need to see the best of him consistently.

“He showed yesterday how well he can play. He showed that he has ability both going forward and going back.

“The problem is we just do not see it often enough. There is no point doing it one week against Newcastle and not the next.

“If he can find that consistency Tottenham have a serious player on their hands.”
