Watch former Spur slot home a brace on international duty

By The Boy -

Gareth Bale still has what it takes. Last night, Wales beat Austria in a World Cup qualifier. The former Spurs ace bagged both goals.

One ever-burning issue within the Tottenham fanbase remains the possible return of Bale to the club that was his springboard.

I take a view that someone else is welcome to the boy. The injury and wages baggage is far too distracting for me to even consider a third time at Tottenham. I’m with Simon Jordan on Bale. Thanks, but no, thanks.

Interesting point. I can imagine Everton must have committed to a basic fee of some description, regardless of how poorly it worked out. I heard that was 10m paid over installments and another potential 30m based on him winning the Ballon d’or, or something equally ridiculous. So perhaps if they put down 5m in January to get him, if they can find someone to pay Everton another 5m then they can pay Spurs the balance and they’re out of trouble. Apart from the salary wasted but that happens all the time with players.

He’s doing that with Madrid because the club and fans don’t like him. That didn’t start with Bale, Real fans are mainly entitled c*nts who turn on any player at will. If Bale thinks “f*ck you lot” I can’t say I blame him. 16 goals in all comps when not fully fit when he arrived is a more than a decent return for a player some regard as ‘finished’. Had that been Moura he’d be in the form of his life. I thought he did well for us during a difficult season. If people expected a repeat of his San Siro moment week in week out or he’s a flop, they need their heads tested. Quality player still and way better than 80% of what we have in our squad.

I know Bale plays as a forward these days, generally on the right. However, an option to shift him to an attacking wingback left or right in Conte’s system is also an interesting dimension. Not sure he’s got the legs to do 90mins as a wingback these days, but would he need to be a ‘running’ wingback if we had the right balance in midfield?

Absolutely true though I would want the deadwood out and replaced by a Conte target. If that’s Bale then I’m happy.

Yep, even the older Bale has quality that outstrips what we currently have on our books. Certainly Moura and Bergy…

I can understand when some players get their performances or their character is criticised, but Bale is probably as good a player this club has ever had, you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone.

Russia is so corrupt it’s untrue. I’ve been there and had coppers basically asking for bribes. They ask about your visa and threaten to take you down the Ruskie nick to check your paperwork, but of course “some Ruble” is all they’re after. Never speak in foreign tongue within earshot of a Russian copper, half of them will try and make money out of you.

If the cops on the street are that bent, the mind boggles at how bad it must be at government level. Russia is run by a mob, always has been and Putin is just chief mobster …

We’d all be blowing smoke up any of our players this season for that kind of form. Because it’s Bale it’s horrendously poor form…

I read that the real problem in the Russian army today is that all NCO’s are bent as bananas. Most of them are corrupt and on the take apparently, for example being sent fuel for exercises and instead selling the fuel on the black market and forcing their men to say they’d been on extended exercises!
It’s a pity they’ve got nukes or NATO could have given them a right good kicking that they deserve, that’s if old sleepy Joe has the balls. Although the Ukraine army is being pretty rough with them, it’s going to be difficult for them to get an outright victory.

You’re turning your nose up at Bale scoring 16 goals in all comps and getting 4 assists in a limited number of starts? What other Spurs player would you criticise for that record? As a matter of fact I can think of at least 2 matches where his goals got us 3 points each time – Brighton and Leicester, neither side are minnows as you seem to infer.

Putin has over stretched himself. The Russian infantry (apart from a few elite units) aren’t up to much and have never fared well in this situation. He only ‘succeeded’ in Chechnya by virtually flattening the place with missiles and air strikes, killing thousands of civilians. The man’s a deluded c*nt.

Now he’s bringing J.K Rowling into it and comparing what he does with gender nutters cancelling people in the UK? At the same time, well over a hundred children have been killed, 3 million refugees. You couldn’t make it up…

Kulusevski has done very well but doesn’t seem like much of a finisher, but could improve that at 21. I reckon we could use Bale, we’d have finished that season much worse off without him. He was key in the demolition of Utd away, which is typically a tough fixture. Considering how rotated he was, over 10 goals was a decent return. Hardly ‘embarrassing’, particularly if you add in the assists.

Nah..He couldn’t score against Mura in the ropey league. He couldn’t score against any decent team like City in the league or final… His record with us last time out was embarrassing. Huge flop. Coolio has been great.

He still has what it takes, against Austria, who are ranked 23rd just above Ukraine, and just below the USA.. Austria hasn’t been in the world cup since the 90s… He certainly hasn’t got what it takes to thrive in the prem anymore. As we all saw last time.. He can score against Colchester and Burnley, but not against top teams or in a final. It’s unfortunate that every dog has it’s day… I’m a huge fan of prime Bale, but we can’t have him back after last time. Spend those high wages that Bale will demand on a Conte player and target.

Can’t see him coming back for a third stint with us. However, he scored something like 10 goals plus many assists during his loan with us. He’s still a better option than Moura, Bergwjin and even Kulusevski as one of the front three in my opinion.

Bale only rejoined us last year to get fit for the Euros. Some of the media coverage may have been unsavoury but there is no doubt Bale was minding himself for Wales by pulling out of El Classico. He clearly doesnt give a sh1t about RM and the club wanted shot of him long ago. Seeing him charging around for his country last night inflamed the situation further, There is no love lost. I would not be in favour of Bale returning to pick and chose the games he wants to play, falling out with Conte leading to tension in the dressing and the story becoming about why Conte isn’t picking Bale etc etc.

Unrelated question, but just reading a piece on Dele, who as failed to be bothered to pull up his socks or show any evidence of self-respect at Everton:
So, we don’t get the first installment of the reported £40M performance-related fee until the lad plays in 20 games, which he now can’t achieve until next season.
Reports suggest Everton could look to get rid in the summer.
Can Everton sell him for a fee without having paid us a penny, and essentially pick our pocket? How would this work?

I hope he doesn’t come back for another spell, his fitness levels are just not good enough, however considering all of the ‘tripe’ he has had to endure through his career from doubters and media spin, last night I think he rammed all that and more down their throats, he was magnificent.

On his day he’s the best player in the world. If he would accept realistic wages I’d have him back. Get him teach Kane how to take set-pieces and Sessegnon how to bulk up and dominate

He seems to raise his game for his country but with club football he goes through the motions to stay fit for his international football.

If he drastically reduced his wage demands to a “normal” level I’d take him on a 12 month rolling contract.

Meanwhile on the Eastern front the Ukrainian army have counter attacked and have pushed the Russians back by up to 20 miles around Kyev, recapturing several villages. Respect to them. Like wolves snapping at a sluggish Russian bear.

Bale has always been world class and he undoubtedly still has it, though he has to pick and choose his games these days. He obviously loves playing for his country, but less so playing for RM, and I can’t say I blame him considering how some of their fans have dis-respected him over the years. He doesn’t love RM that’s for sure – but then who does?

I’ve tried writing a folk ballad song about Gareth Bale. It’s impossible and infuriating.
