Watch All 4 Spurs Goals As Spurs Slayed Saints

By The Boy -

I’ve heard fans talking about Tottenham taking 20 minutes to get into the game at home yesterday, but truth be told, there’s a good case for suggesting Spurs didn’t start to look believable, look comfortable until Eric Dier scored our second goal just after the half-hour mark.

By the time of the own goal, Southampton were in total disarray, and Kulusevki’s closer was for me the pick of the pack. A cracking scoreline, many positives, and Chelsea are up next, fresh after their win on Merseyside against Everton.

One Swallow does not a summer make – but still… an encouraging result.

3 goals from “defenders” and none from Harryson I agree bodes well. Viva la Conte!

Sessegnon’s just edged it for me – all 3 were excellent but the cross that Kulu put in was sublime I have watched other teams do that to us (Stains last season) and wished we had a player who could land a ball on a sixpence.

On the negative side I thought Son was poor worse than Harry and that moment when he went across the box and fired over had Harry very annoyed. Maybe his head is still in Seoul and it will take a few weeks to readjust.

Hobby was in two minds I think.. You don’t leave your man unmarked in the penalty area.. You don’t let the ball bounce in the penalty area… He went to head the ball clear but misjudged it…. Considering we have three centre backs, at least one should have been there and not him anyway.

definitely wont get carried away with that performance , they had a few more chances to score and as we know momentum is crucial .
on the bright side , Kulu a player you just “enjoy” , Eric looking more assured , and , very surprisingly , Emerson looked a decent wingback ?
Must add that Harry & Sonny were not “at it” , and without them scoring / assisting this has to go down as a very satisfying win , believing there is much more to come .
I also commend Conte for starting with last seasons side , ensuring that those coming in wil have to equal or better the one’s they replace ………smart cookie ??

Interesting article.
Puts a lot of things into perspective.

Conte is preparing us for a special season, it was a masterstroke to start the team that finished last season so well.
To see Dier & Sess get first goals in so long & to see Royal raise his level & the biggest win on the opening day of the season for us in a very long time says it all.

Who would’ve thought we could win 4 – 1 & Son & Kane not score.
Times are a changing.

Sorry for the link Harry, but it was a great read.

If City don’t get three points today then I think the title race is over!

Three lovely goals. Dier’s header was probably my pick, but all had their merit.

That OG was atrocious. A PL player should be able to clear with their weaker foot.

Their goal, i’m not sure what Hojbjerg was up to. Wild jump when following the ball would have been better.
