Video: Son’s Reaction Against Watford

Son Heung-Min actually gives a damn. That’s your headline. That’s bigger than the scoreline, and it’s bigger than the endless mithering over whether Poch is still a member of the magic circle or not.

And there, we’ve touched upon it, believability. We believe that Harry Kane believes in Spurs, no two ways about it. almost to the point of being an automaton. I’d say you could add Toby Alderweireld to that list. Perhaps Harry Winks.

But after these, the names come less easily to mind.

Exactly – Kane running behind is the best option, with support it will work, but without support behind is better than in front.

If someone runs in front I see why getting behind works for him. however we tend to have no one attacking the front while Kane is going behind. I guess that’s the problem, we seem too stagnant in the final third.

With his pace… Or lack there of… Taking a route in front of a defender makes him easier to pick up and monitor, a quick defender won’t even need to track him. Rubbing behind gives the defender issues, you can’t look both ways. The issue here is if he runs in front some one needs to run behind, of that person existed they could run in front. Kane is not blameless but the service to him is worse than poor but the lack of support is arguably worse.

I think Kane deserves some blame here. Is it all his teammates fault he isn’t getting the service he needs. I see Harry make bad decisions and can’t for the life of me understand why he always has to make his runs to the back post. Is someone else supposed to be making a front post run?( I’m talking during build-up not on corners.) He makes the same behind the defender run every time and doesn’t always present himself as an easy target to hit. I think he sometimes is less then aggressive in the air on crosses. I’m not saying it s all on him but I think making some runs on the ball side of the defender would help. Especially with the lack of space in the final third usually given by the opposition. It is not easy to always have to squeeze a cross into such a small space between keeper and defender to get Harry the ball on the back side of the box. Now I only get to see what the camera on TV shows me but I think being less predictable will help his cause as well.
