Video Evidence: Mourinho Offers BT Sport Presenter A Challenge – One A Few Spurs Fans Might Want To Accept

By The Boy -

The answer to the challenge of course is that Tottenham won just four away Premier League matches in the final 12 months of Mauricio Pochettino’s reign. This is why vile and dreadful people like me call out Poch revisionism whenever I see it.

Spurs also didn’t win away in the Premier League from January to November (when he was eventually sacked) of 2019. Seeking to whitewash on this scale is not just nuts, it’s essentially perverse.

Correct me if I’m wrong. Isn’t this Jose’s first full season? He’s in a cup final and the top four is still on. Also in the running for a European cup. First full season and “times running out? It’s the hate blinding you again

Ok. Let that hold you back. You miss out on so much with your attitude. You can’t even enjoy a win.

yet another year without Champions League participation most likely beckons. We are going backwards not forwards, so naturally like anyone who loves the club, I don’t want to see that.

just to remind you,we are in 9th place.

Jose doesn’t need excuses for not getting the team was into the top 4? The other guy did it 4 times in 5 seasons, time’s running out to even match that… 🤔

Why should he? You see tottenham as that I don’t. Maybe it because I’m not blinded by hate

Are you trying to compare bill nicks time to the premier League? ENIC are paying me as much as you think they are

Poch had the 17th highest net spend, 7th highest wage bill during his time. That’s 60m a year less on wages PA than Arsenal and 300m less than Utd.

We finished above these teams consistently, we didn’t even have a home ground for two years and made no signings for a whole year not long before he left.

You need to get your facts right before posting up your constant little anti-‘Botch’ diatribes.

Everyone knows he wasn’t backed properly including the tea lady yet people like you are attempting to re-educative us? 🤔 Look at the facts about the expenditure above rather than fantasy.

Jose’s not being backed properly either but at least he’s got a home ground. 😂

Under Levy we have had 13 managers in 22 years and one solitary League Cup (won 13 years ago) to show for it.

How can anybody condone that who loves the club? Its bonkers mate, Levy has failed the team and the managers, year after year…

It was fine as light entertainment. These shoes are known for being like all ‘reality’ TV. Bits of stuff that actually happened edited together to create something else, so staged yes. So was the Liverpool one and all the others.

’The Glory Gane’ is a wtiter’s real warts and all account of the inner goings on in a football club, Spurs in the early 70’, by Hunter Davies and seen as a classic sports book.

Showed Spurs (still under Bill Nic) as a club concerned only with football. Different times but the whole truth.

Comparing the two, one looks like a panto. That was my point, but alas you missed it again just to jump to the defence of the owners. How much are ENIC paying you?

The timing was good. We needed a more mature José.

Staged? If you believe that you’ll believe anything. Levy made sure nothing was shown that would belittle the club. The show was a success

Levy worked him brilliantly while building the stadium and put him on the map. Levy will bring him in again one day. He’ll back him too. Poch has got untold years left in the game

We still got too many of Botchys players. The likes of Winks and Davies and Dier can’t be relied on at the top level… Of course you’re right the two years no signings was shocking, but previous to that Botch was allowed to build his squad, 27 players in and 40 went out, he told us all on his watch, he also told us he prefers a small squad and he was happy repeatedly…. Now when Botch didn’t win the CL, the superbowl was built he was immediately given 150 million odd of players. All his targets, a club record signing 2 times in Ndombele and Lo Celso, and they were not even fit enough to start… Looking at Botchs record signings and overall transfer activity at Saints and Spurs he hit top 6 in list spending over half a billion.. He signed more rubbish than good if you look.. His best players like Kane and the Moose and Walker and Rose and Verts were already at the club.. The CL was a fluke like Al said. That season we were rubbish in the league, the CL run papered over the cracks. We were poor for nearly two years really.

Baldy tried in vein to get Maureen repeatedly 5 years ago and 10 years ago. He wanted him for time. When Sir Alex retired he tried to get Maureen at Manure too. The Portugese chose to go back to the chavs. Hardly suprising really considering his history with them.

I read ‘The Glory Game’ a few years ago and it covers that sort of period and I’m pretty sure Dennis Bond is mentioned in it. Great book, well ahead if it’s time.

Makes Amazon’s Tom Hardy narrated ‘fly on the wall’ look and sound like a badly staged panto…

It would never be allowed to happen, but I’d love a journalist to just ask him if he thinks one League Cup and 13 managers in 22 years is what he might describe as success on the pitch or not.

I suspect something completely separate to football like ‘regeneration’ and “world class infrastructure would be used in his defence!? 🤔

To which the journo should reply “but it’s FOOTBALL club, you bloody t*t!” 😂

Off topic somebody posted half an hour on YouTube of a Spurs v West Ham game from 1971,voiced by Brian Moore with bits by Jimmy Hill.

Jimmy Greaves scored for West Ham. Gilzean scored for Spurs. Two Spurs players I never recalled Ray Evans and Dennis Bond. I had to Google them.

Nearly fifty years ago but felt like another world away. Beautiful long sleeved round necked Spurs jerseys with just the cockerel and a number. A work of art.

Yeah Poch shoulda been backed, but then some forget he was complicit in those missed transfer windows. He reaped what he sowed.

Yeah Levy appointed Jose, but ! 5 years too late. It’s clear the appointment was made to deflect the fact that it was cheaper to appoint him than do the rebuild that Poch neglected to do but told the world he needed to do 🤷🏻‍♂️

Common denominator in all the above. A short bald man called Daniel Levy. A challenge many have accepted but ultimately failed at when it comes to building a first class football team where he holds the purse strings.

I’m not saying that getting to the final means the team were doing well overall (although we finished in the top 4 as well). I’m just throwing it in there as a reminder of just how ‘bad’ things actually were or weren’t.

i just can’t see how people can make a whole list of excuses for one manager and not do the same for the other. When in real terms, are working for the same dysfunctional employers.

Yes. City essentially knocked us out in the quarters. That goal wasn’t offside cos it wasn’t a forward pass.

I agree with you on all you say, but when Spurs got to the CL Final it was a complete fluke, VAR helped us against City and Moura did a Rosenthal at Ajax. I despise Levy, Enic as much as your self, in fact I was saying that we will never reach our potential with Levy and Enic, on this Blog years back and nothing has changed.

It’s easier to change the manager than to kick out half the team. And there lies the problem not just for us, but most teams.

I am big on the ‘Poch wasn’t backed properly’ thing and not being given a few mediocre seasons or two (like the ones we are currently experiencing anyway) to rebuild.

No sane person can deny how much worse we got in the last year Poch was in charge. I would put most of this bring down to the only club in top flight football in the world not making a single signing over a whole year.

However, reserving all the excuses for the team’s poor form just for Jose and not Poch’s last 12 months (during which we got to a Champions League final, ahem..), is equally disingenuous.

The knives should be out for the bald headed guy, our Commander in Chief. 13 managers in 22 years and one League Cup is completely indefensible…
