When the now 32-year-old Toby Alderweireld eventually leaves Tottenham, which is likely to be sooner rather than later, we’re going to be left with a very big void to fill – and right now – I don’t see any fit and proper replacements on our books.
After yesterday’s lackluster performance against Arsenal, many fans have been taking Matt Doherty’s name in vain, but for some balance, we ought to be appreciative of Toby’s excellent performance.

All Toby’s numbers in the above disciplines were notably improved upon his current mean averages. At least one Tottenham player could be bothered to shine brightly…

Toby is very decent, as was Jan. I also think Sanchez can be decent again (if he’s actually that bad at all?).
Ok we could do with another senior central defender but we bought Rodon (who Jose never plays) and gave a new contract to Dier and put him in there in the hope it might work.
Who makes these decisions?
When the sad day arrives and Toby bids us farewell, proper replacements need to be found, because they are not to be found within the squad. That means quality experienced players who can come straight in and do a job.Anything less will see our usual floundering around. It’s not acceptable.
I wrote on an earlier blog that perhaps Westergaard and Andersen, two Danes could be our new Toby and Jan.And they would not be expensive wohich would appeal to Levy, but he has to be serious about it,regardless of who the manager is.
