Video: Antonio Conte shares funny advice about not getting the goalkeeper, striker positions wrong

Tottenham Hotspur edged out Manchester City this past weekend and the vital figure in the matchup was striker Harry Kane. The 28-year-old scored a brace, including the game-winning goal in stoppage time late in the second half.

Ahead of their matchup against Burnley, manager Antonio Conte was asked by the media at his press conference about having Kane and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in top form. The Italian tactician used an analogy, saying a manager can get his wife wrong, but not his striker and goalkeeper.

“I remember very well about this question there is a sporting director in Italy that is my friend who’s name is Pantaleo Corvino that he says: “You can make mistake about your wife but not about the striker and the goalkeepers,” Conte said, per Football.London.

“You understand? For me, that is the best quote that I understand in football, no? You can make a mistake about your wife but not mistakes about your striker. To build a team. We are talking about two good players, two important players for us (Lloris and Kane), also the players with more experience.”
