Video Analysis: Who Was To Blame For Newcastle’s First Goal

By The Boy -

When we break down the first goal, it’s a series of poor decisions and technical ineptitude by virtually everyone concerned.

Here’s the full clip of the goal. Without being mean spirited, this was handed to Newcastle on a plate.

Who was at fault? Japhet Tanganga’ and Davinson Sanchez’ actions were third rate. If I were Ledley King I’d be feeling extremely uncomfortable right now.

What we can assess from these shambles is that it had nothing to do with the manager, the tea lady or the change in the price of fish.

Or, dodgy wingback play and midfield giveaways put the CBs under impossible pressure whilst giving Newcastle confidence and the space to express themselves.

Nbelly, Lo Celso & Moura were simultaneously bad in possession, not to mention Reggie. No wonder Sanchez was looking panicked at times.

“By the time the shot is on – only Rodon is in the correct position”

Or, if Rodon had stepped up instead of toward the goal when he did, their scorer would have been offside; Rodon was the only defender playing him on.

First goal is usual comedy gold from Spurs. Three chances to clear it bungled!
Sanchez had been looking like he was improving but every pass or header seemed to go straight to a black and white shirt. Not good enough at this level. He was the most senior member of the backline and should have been a calming presence but he created utter panic.

It’s a mess, and Hojbjerg looked worn out , but Mourinho will play him with one leg even, the league position and the prospect of a trophy should still mean positives, but the mood is toxic at the club and one man has created that.

Tanganga is not a right back and is just back from injury still learning to play at this level. Reguilon, Son, Lo Celso are below par following injury.

Hojbjerg, N’Dombele and even Kane are running on empty.

Vinicius is learning on the job, Moura and Lamela reverted to type yesterday. Jose doesn’t trust Dele, Doherty, Bale, and Aurier.

Mix it all up and you have a mess and yet when we win the Carabao Cup and qualify for the Champions League we will wonder what we were worrying about.

Should Lloris have passed the ball out to Tanganga who obviously was not comfortable in that situation of being under pressure, that needs to be urgently addressed, as a consequence of that the ball breaks to Sanchez who is equally uncomfortable and also plays a panic attack clearance, Hojbjerg is weak in his attempt to win the ball which is crucial, and it was then easy for even a basic standard level of player to score.
The second is down to Reguilon who made no attempt to cut out the cross which was headed back into danger with no challenge on Joelinton, I know most think the sun shines out of this boy’s rear end but his defensive play was awful yesterday, and that lack of awareness summed it up, if that was Davies he would of been slaughtered.
Questions for all the coaches including Ledders are needed, and the manager’s unforgiving vitriolic words to the media will be ringing in the players ears which can only make matters worse, sadly.
