‘they are the best…’: Ange signing proud to play with Tottenham duo, heaps praise on them

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has heaped praise on his club teammates Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.

Both players have been exceptional for Tottenham since joining the club and Vicario believes that they are the best defenders he has played with in his career.

Romero has already established himself as one of the best defenders in the world, and he has been a key player for Tottenham since his arrival. He helped his country win the 2022 World Cup as well.

Meanwhile, Van de Ven joined Tottenham last summer and few would have expected him to establish himself as a player for the London club almost instantly. The Dutchman has been outstanding for his new club and he’s only going to get better with coaching and experience.

Apart from his defensive qualities, the 22-year-old has added recovery pace to the Tottenham backline and he has established himself as an indispensable asset for Ange Postecoglou.

Vicario said to Football London: “Cuti, well I don’t need to use too many words on Cuti! He won the World Cup in 2022 so I’m not the right person to speak about him. He’s a massive player and Micky of course has been outstanding.

“In the way we play, with the high line, his speed has been very, very important for us. I’m very proud. I can say they are the best defenders I’ve played with so I’m very proud of that. Praise to them for a big season but next season we want to do better.”

Tottenham have clearly put together an exciting squad and they have a lot of talent. It will be interesting to see if they can continue to improve the team and push for trophies next season.

They missed out on Champions League qualification this season, but they have shown tremendous improvement under the Australian manager. It remains to be seen whether they can secure a top four finish next year and push for domestic trophies.
