“Very well dealt with Jose” Mourinho’s latest comments shows his class

Jose Mourinho has held his pre match press conference today and took time out to pay tribute to Prince Phillip who died today aged 99.

It was a classy move from a man that is not British and comes from a country that no longer has a royal family.

As the press conference got underway Mourinho stopped answering questions to pay his condolences to the Queen and royal family.

The Portuguese comments have been widely reported and sadly, with it being Twitter, there was a lot of vile abuse to navigate but there were also a load that acknowledged the classy act from the Tottenham manager.

Whether you are a monarchist or not, it was not really about them but more about a man paying respect and that shows the sort of person that Mourinho is.

Here are just some of the responses to what Mourinho said spread across various Twitter accounts that reported his words.

I think there was only the Sheffield United/Arsenal presser after ours guess it depends upon the coaches being asked

A rugby man and I think it was him who said the Royals were all Gooners… Poor Queenie will be hurting the most 😔

Probably not no.. And LOL if you think copying other peoples words and insults (which you do alot) and calling me ‘macho man’ actually offends me then more fool you. I would rather be a macho man opposed to you, an old spent whiney moaning sourpuss woman 95 per cent of the time. The 5 per cent talking like a fighter or footballer when its clear you are neither… I am no troll either. I would guess you are a gooner in a disguise, I’ve never heard you support the team or have anything good to say. When things are going better then you go quiet, almost vanish.. Then at the first sign of trouble you’re here ready for a good moan.. Like a rat coming out of his hole… Supporter of Spurs? An expert of the game? You live in Cuckoo Land.

Who said he was a saint? Whenever anyone passes away, we focus on why they will be missed, so that’s on positives.

I have very little or no interest in the Royals, but this is about context. What he meant in the national identity of the establishment both domestically and internationally. So what if he said some daft things, I’m not bothered about any of it.

I find the idea of these people we don’t know getting all this fanfare when they pass away as quite bizarre.however it’s just like celebrity culture, the cult of personality I didn’t know him personally so I have no feelings either way.

However, having a dig when someone dies is a bit juvenile for me. Why lower oneself to that?

To be fair, overpopulation is the elephant in the room and likely to be the single biggest problem this planet will face in the next 50 years, so maybe he was ahead of his time with this thinking.

Won’t most managers be mentioning the passing of such a public figure in British history?

Spot on.

If you read the comments he doesn’t even really reference Phillip specifically, he talks more about the Royals as a family.

The comment of condolences and respect to the family is classy because it supports them for their loss but does not try and make out he was a saint. This is the best way to do it imo

It is true to a certain extent that upon death everyone becomes a saint. However may his soul rest in peace and best wishes to the Royal Family for their loss. He was from a different era and not pc, but that’s life, we’re all living so long now that this is bound to happen.

The comments in the article are all about Jose? What are you talking about?

You took it upon yourself to focus on a negative and post on it.

Have some respect

Calm down Eddie, just because it isn’t a surprise doesn’t make it any less impactful for those close to him. Imagine losing your partner of 74 years. I have zero interest in the Royal Family, I don’t think we need them but there is absolutely no need for you to start spewing negatives about a man who has just passed away.

No need for your comment at all. Keep your opinion to yourself.

He was ill and 99 so it is hardly surprising he died. This is the man who is on record as saying if he could come back through reincarnation he would want to be a deadly virus so he could do something to help with depopulating the planet. Not missed by me.
