“Utter clown shoes” “too nice” “lack a true leader” Swathes of fans react very badly to tonight’s drubbing by Blades

By The Boy -

I’ve been watching Spurs since the very early 80s, and this game was right up there with so very many car crashes that preceded this one. Which tells me not that, ‘life is hard and then you die’ rather, this club keeps repeating the same mistakes, perhaps expecting different outcomes, who knows?

Spurs were largely dismal this evening, and we’ll dive into the detail in the morning. What was truly withering, was the absence of any positives. The closest Tottenham came to being a credible opponent was a ‘should have could have’ hard-done-by effort from Harry Kane.

Analysis of this game is will only prove embarrassing for all concerned, but focus will be upon how we got ourselves into this dreadful mess.

What will make for fascinating reading are the efforts of players earning absolute fortunes, together with the thoughts upon the abysmal game face of Mr. Tanguy Ndombele when he eventually came on.

Anyone who thought sacking Poch after the lack of investment in the squad is an idiot. Anyone who thinks Jose was the right replacement is also an idiot.

The man who thought these things and made them happen is Daniel Levy. New member of the Times Rich List and the first chairman to try and furlough everyone.

What a guy…

I gave up when poch said we need to act like a big club and was given the finger. Don’t think Jose is the man, and have a feeling he is just here for a last payday knowing the job is not about winning. Clearly it is not. I don’t want to hear any crying about a ridiculous decision yesterday, everyone gets them. We got thumped off shef utd is the bottom line. We ain’t won since colour TV. It’s absolutely disgusting that a club that was in contention for titles, and in the biggest of them all last year, has been reduced to this. 1 group to blame, I don’t even blame players that much, most shouldn’t be here anyway but they will be if they have chance, it’s the clown that employs them because they are cheap. The fernandes we wanted and the one we got being a prime example.

I’m angry that it’s got this bad and so plain to see for some anyway, Im lucky my life is fairly busy and does not rely on saturday afternoons watching the results or live football ,although i still play myself. For those season ticket holders paying lots of hard cash it must be painful ,the numbets will start to drop if this continues and lets say sonny/kane goes. Had it all and enics utter incompetence has ruined it all ,they will have to spend and they simply won’t. I will still follow my beloved but go back to my default setting ‘ expect nothing ‘ ,or actually expect to be laughed at …

But hang on, Jose is the man to instil the “winning mentality” is he not? That result was truly shocking and the performance. Whatever Jose is trying to do or has done has made zero difference to this group of players. If anything they’re getting worse.

We’d have been better off with Poch given time to undertake the ‘rebuild’, that was never needed anyway if we had a decent transfer policy.

The whole situation is a joke, an embarrassment. Got this swanky stadium and suddenly the team is going nowhere. Only Levy could oversee such dysfunction on the football side. Just a a reminder for those who get more excited about the stadium than the football team. We are a football club, not a building development fan club. Grow up ffs…

It’s almost guaranteed, Sissoko and Davies got them just before he kicked Poch out. Levy wants a relatively low paid top 10 team so the stadium debt pays itself and he gets on the Times Rich List again.

Any decent signings under Levy never become part of a great winning side, they go the way of Berbatov, Carrick, Modric, Bale etc. Lo Celso is exciting but so were all of the above and as soon as they approached their peak were cashed in on.

This is the same sh*t that’s been going on for 20 years and there is no sign of it ending. Levy thinks the fans are mugs, unless they complain about ENIC they probably are…

Just saw Aurier on MOTD, let his man get by with barely a shrug of the shoulders and wanders into the box watching the mayhem unfold. Give him a new four year contract, before Liverpool or Man City come in for him. Did you see Sissoko’s shot on goal? One of these years he is going to score a goal.

Levy will probably give Aurier a new contract.

See the problem is there’s a section of fans who don’t want to admit they were wrong, and they were. The manager is just anithrr George Graham. He won stuff yes. But it wasn’t under the restrictions he will have here, and it was some time ago. People are telling me that sissoko is a hugely improved player. Let’s not mess about here. He cannot kick a ball in a straight line. Aurier. That man had a brain transplant. Dier. Never a more aptly named player. Kane will leave, and the real problem is the man who will pocket the sale money of our top man. He ran the club so that if a rainy day came along we would be fine. The fact he then borrowed another 175m and is pleading poverty in the market tells me that the money from guns and roses etc was never going to the football club. Our whole existence now is merely to pay the debt off on enics biggest asset. People need to wake up.

I’m watching Touching the Void (great book too) and think that Spurs’ plight is far worse than Joe Simpson’s and the pain he endured is nothing compared to what we, as fans, will go through in the next 2 years! Obviously, that is utter nonsense, but this sense of doom is upon me (I have had it a lot this season) and I do not envisage us challenging for honours anytime soon. We need a long term plan that includes the DNA of Tottenham. We are a ‘footballing’ team who like to entertain the fans, that should be at the heart of every footballing decision from the way the academy kids are coached to choosing managers and players to wear the First team shirt. Looking ahead I can’t see Aurier being with us in the Summer, but that one decision isn’t going to change our fortunes is it? Can it? It definitely can’t do any harm! There are so many other personnel problems too, not just with the players who are not good enough but why would Kane and Son be part of this? Dele can’t get in the team so why should he hang around? This has a Ramos feel about it and the only comfort is, things got better!

100%

Jose isn’t working, how could it ever work? He’s not used to working in such an environment, he must have been desperate to take the job.

Things were good a couple of seasons ago, more than good. Of course the sensible thing to do was to back the manger and keep the momentum going. However this is Levy we are taking about, he doesn’t like or care for football so he let the whole thing go to seed. As he has done time and time again.

Jose won’t save this situation, especially as he is overwhelmingly the wrong man for the job. I keep going on about it but the penny just won’t drop for some… “he’s a winner” they cry. Not anymore he isn’t and under Levy he certainly isn’t.

I thought Jose’s comments congratulating Liverpool and his comments about backing a manager from the off and what can be achieved was deliberately cryptic. Eventually Jose and Levy will be on collision course, if they aren’t already…

Big changes needed. The bare minimum expected from a professional footballer is one hundred percent effort. You might not be a great player but you can always put in a great effort. Unacceptable performance. Get shot of Davies, Aurier, Lamela, Gedson, Sanchez, Moura, Sissoko. Vertonghen is going, Clark will never play for Spurs sell him, sell Walker – Peters. Start buying players with some character, players who want to die for that shirt. Players with a physical edge who will battle to win every game. I’m disappointed, that display was like something from the dross we had to put up with in the 1990s. Bloody shameful performance, they disgraced that shirt.

Unfortunately we’re stuck with them, we won’t spend the money to replace them.

Our rivals gave us a glimmer of hope last night and not for the first time Spurs let us down. Out fought by a team with limited technical ability but willing to die for the shirt. Davies, Dier, Aurier, Sissoko are just not good enough for the highest level

I know where the buck stops and it isn’t the players or the manager. The rot starts at the top.
