“Understood to be happening shortly” – Eccleshare shares exciting Tottenham update

By Mehdi Gokal -

According to Charlie Eccleshare, Tottenham Hotspur are expected to bring in a permanent replacement for Fabio Paratici ‘shortly’.

Earlier it was confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur chief scout Leonardo Gabbanini has left the club.

The Daily Telegraph journalist shared the news on X:

Tottenham have sacked chief scout Leonardo Gabbanini

Leonardo Gabbanini worked closely with new manager Ange Postecoglou in the summer as the two of them rebuilt the squad.

They signed 7 players in the summer including James Maddison, Manor Solomon, Guglielmo, Ashley Phillips, Micky van de Ven, Brennan Johnson, and Alejo Veliz.

The loan deals of Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski were also made permanent.

The decision to leave could do with the appointment of Scott Munn who starts on Thursday.

The newly appointed Chief Football Officer, Scott Munn, officially commenced his role at the club on Thursday.

Eccleshare reports that Munn is now expected to appoint a new director of football who will work under him and serve as a bridge between him and Postecoglou.

Reporting for The Athletic, he wrote:

“Gabbanini has had to take on a more prominent role since Fabio Paratici’s departure in April, but has moved on ahead of Spurs bringing in a permanent replacement for former managing director of football Paratici.”

“That is understood to be happening shortly, with Scott Munn officially starting work as chief football officer on Thursday and Postecoglou saying earlier this month that he expected a new director of football to arrive soon.”

Fabio Paratici who had been working as a consultant for Spurs since his ban will also no longer be working as that arrangement comes to end.
