Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing the Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio.
However, the Premier League side are facing competition from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool as well as per Calciomercato. All three clubs are believed to be ‘on his trail’.
The 26-year-old has struggled for regular first-team opportunities at Santiago Bernabeu and he needs to leave the club in order to play more often.
The talented attacking midfielder has showcased his qualities at Real Madrid during his limited first-team opportunities and he has the potential to be a quality player for Antonio Conte’s side.
Tottenham were linked with a number of attacking midfielders during the summer transfer window but they missed out on the signing of Christian Eriksen and Nicolo Zaniolo.
It is no secret that they need to bring in a quality creative presence and Asensio seems like an ideal fit for them.
He will be out of contract next summer and has reportedly refused to sign an extension with the club.
It will be interesting to see if Spurs decide to sign him for a nominal fee during the January transfer window. They could wait until the end of the season and sign the player on a free transfer as well.
A move to Spurs would give the midfielder the opportunity to resurrect his career with regular football and someone like Conte could help them improve further and fulfil his potential.
The midfielder has won multiple trophies including the Champions League and the Spanish league last season with Real Madrid and his winning experience could be a valuable addition to the Tottenham dressing room.
