Two games that could cost Jose Mourinho his job – it is at that stage now | Opinion

Tottenham have five games left in which to try and salvage their season and each one of those games is obviously very important, however, it can be argued that the next two games for Jose Mourinho could cost him his job at the Tottenham Stadium if results go against him.

Spurs have the opportunity to go above their bitter rivals Arsenal this evening, failure to do that will not go down well at all, not with Chairman Daniel Levy or the fans in my opinion.

It would set the rot in that I doubt very much could be eradicated, it would be Sheffield United all over again and that would be too much to stomach in such a short period of time.

However, Mourinho would still have a get out of jail card in that the North London derby is just a few days away and that could give the Portuguese some breathing space with a win over that mob.

But a loss this evening and on Sunday and the end would be nigh, it is very hard to see how the former Real Madrid manager could come back from that, not in the eyes of either Levy or the fans.

A win in both would see Spurs four points ahead of Arsenal with just three games to go and firmly placed in a Europa League spot (Seventh would likely be enough with Man City winning the League cup and one of the Champions League qualifiers likely to win the FA cup)

If Tottenham finish the season in a European spot and above Arsenal that should satisfy most fans and Levy and buy Mourinho a transfer window but lose to the Cherries and at home to the Gunners and it must surely be the end for the man employed to win silverware.

Now, if Spurs beat Bournemouth and lose to Arsenal it would then depend on the final games of the season because the end result would probably be enough to save Mourinho if, as I have already stated, Spurs finish above Arsenal and in a Europa League spot.

But two loses and it is goodbye Jose, it has to be.
