Former Watford striker Troy Deeney believes former Spurs midfielder Etienne Capoue is one of the best players he has played with during his time at The Hornets.
The striker shared a video on his TikTok page, where he is reviewing an old Watford game against West Ham. They came back from 2 goals down to win 5-2 and Capoue was among the goalscorers.
When Capoue scored, Deeney asserted that the Frenchman is still one of the best players he has ever played with, heaping praise at the defensive midfielder.
He said:
“Then Caps slapped that as well. One hell of a finish, he’s still one of the best players I’ve ever played with, he was a joke. He plays for Villarreal now, he’s won the Europa League, he’s French, he was so sick.”
After his somewhat failed stint at Spurs, he made a club-record transfer to newly promoted Watford for a reported fee of around £6.3 million.
Capoue made a significant impact with them, making 181 appearances and leaving a lasting impression on Deeney and others.
While Capoue’s time at Tottenham may not have fully showcased his talents, his subsequent success demonstrates his capabilities as a midfielder.
